Band (Beginning & Advanced)

Band is a year-long elective where students develop performance skills, learn to read music, and build a strong understanding of music theory.

Students are placed in Beginning or Advanced Band based on their experience level. A wide range of instruments are offered, including:

Flute, Clarinet, Alto and Tenor Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone (Euphonium), Tuba, Electric and Upright Bass, and Percussion.

Students in Band have opportunities to perform and represent TBMS at a variety of events, which may include:

  • School and district concerts
  • Community performances
  • Special events such as Sacramento Kings games and travel opportunities

Band provides students with a collaborative and engaging environment to grow as musicians and performers.

Music Appreciation

Music Appreciation is designed for students interested in exploring music without a performance requirement.

In this course, students will:

  • Learn about music history and different genres
  • Develop an understanding of music theory and notation
  • Explore basic elements of performance and musicianship

By the end of the course, students build a strong foundation to support future musical experiences, whether in band, choir, or other musical pursuits.
