Language Arts
At Twelve Bridges Middle School, our Language Arts program is designed to strengthen students’ reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills.
Students engage in integrated Language Arts courses where they:
- Read and respond to a variety of fiction and nonfiction texts
- Develop writing through the full writing process, including:
- Brainstorming
- Drafting
- Revising
- Editing
- Publishing
- Prepare and deliver oral presentations
- Build research and inquiry skills
- Strengthen grammar, writing, and spelling
- Expand academic vocabulary
Honors Language Arts
Honors Language Arts is offered to 7th and 8th grade students and provides an opportunity for students to engage in more rigorous coursework and deeper analysis.
Eligibility & Enrollment
Enrollment in Honors Language Arts is voluntary; however, students must meet the following criteria to be considered:
- Earn at least a “B” grade in their previous Language Arts class
- Receive a score of 3 or higher on the most recent SBAC English Language Arts assessment
Selection Process
If the number of students who meet the criteria exceeds available space:
- Priority is given to students with the highest SBAC scores
- i-Ready scores and/or grades may be used to break ties
